Wadi Shab – Paradise in the desert
The oasis valley of Wadi Shab is one of the most famous sights of Oman. Banana palm plantation, a lake, a lot of vegetation, rocks and birds singing – a corner of pristine nature in which the local population lives. And this heavenly luxury is just a few hours from Muscat, the capital of Oman.
What does the excursion include?
- In the morning, departing from the seaport, hotel or airport, guests of Muscat expect a fascinating car trip along the Omani coast towards the town of Sur.In 1.5-2 hours we arrive at the top of the oasis and park the car in the parking lot of Wadi Shab. At the very beginning of our hiking tour we will have a short ferry in a motorboat through a reservoir of clear turquoise water. Walk for 45-60 minutes along the gorge, admiring the surrounding nature, along steep cliffs, fruit plantations and pools. Arrival to the final stop, after which ends the hiking path and begins the path by swimming. The path by swimming does not pose any danger, but those who do not want to go to the very end can stay at the end point and enjoy swimming in the purest water and sunbathe in the warm sun among the rocks. On the water on foot and by swimming you can reach the last fairly deep pool in which there is an entrance to a wonderful cave with an amazing waterfall in the rocks. After two hours of pleasure from visiting this heavenly place called Wadi Shab, on the way back to Muscat, we will have to visit another, no less than The beautiful and surprisingly beautiful place – the lake Bimmah SinkholeBimmah Sinkhole – according to some data this is the most beautiful karst lake in the whole world. According to local tenets, it was in this place that the star fell and formed a funnel with dimensions of 50 by 70 meters and a depth of 20 meters. It is very important. Excursion involves the passage through the gorge. We recommend to have sneakers or special shoes with non-slippery soles. We also recommend to have slippers of the type CROCS for a comfortable transition through the rolls on large round pebbles. The passage through the valley of Wadi Shab itself is not dangerous and does not have a danger steppe, but for a comfortable visit we recommend to follow our recommendations. Please note that the tour is for the whole day (9: 00-18: 00) and the cost of the tour is not included. Before leaving Muscat, we usually drive into a local cafe and order at a reasonable price a very tasty local shawarma, in our opinion, this is the most optimal choice of food for snacking as lunch.
